The Chainsmokers are an award winning duo who produce dance and EDM music. In the last 4 years, The Chainsmokers have been recognized with awards and seen true mainstream success. Something that most people do not know about The Chainsmokers is that they were heavily inspired by the late DJ Avicii.
DJ Avicii is a Swedish DJ whose real name is Tim Bergling. Avicii was influenced by Daft Punk, Swedish House Mafia, and other EDM and house groups. Avicii’s legacy consists of two studio albums and two concert tours. Avicii was nominated for awards by the International Dance Music Awards, the iHeartRadio Music Awards, the Echo Music Awards, and the Billboard Music Awards, taking home several of his nominations.
Earlier in May of 2018, The Chainsmokers participated in an honorary ceremony for Avicii at the Billboard Music Awards. The Chainsmokers were joined by Halsey, who appears on “Closer” by The Chainsmokers. The honors took place just before Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall, who make up the duo of The Chainsmokers awarded Luis Fonsi the Top Hot 100 Song of 2018 award.
“Everyone who worked with [Avicii] would say that he was such a joy and that makes this tragedy all the more painful,” said Halsey on stage. “It’s a reminder to all of us to be there and support and love our friends and family members.”
The Chainsmokers also received an award at the recent ceremony, taking home the trophy for Top Dance/Electronic act. “We want to dedicate this award to Avicii,” said Andrew Taggart after accepting the award. “He is someone who made us believe that this is something we could do with our lives.”
Avicii passed away on April 20th at the young age of 28. The artist has music that is unreleased, and the president of Geffen Records has said that Avicii’s fans may one day be able to hear the unreleased music.
Kelly Clarkson was also in attendance at the awards.
Even though you may not recognize the name, you’ll probably recognize some of the fantastic movies he has produced. Lawrence Bender has produced hit films over the years like Good Will Hunting, Inglorious Basterds, and Pulp Fiction. He has won a few awards in film and has been nominated for many more. In this article, I’m going to be breaking down Lawrence Bender’s bio and some of my favorite films produced by him.
Lawrence Bender was born in 1957 to a Jewish family in the Bronx, New York City, New York. Growing up, Bender wasn’t really all that interested in the arts. In fact, while Bender was attending high school, he actually wanted to pursue a career in civil engineering. One of the reasons was because his grandfather was a civil engineer. Another reason was that it offered great jobs in that field of study. In the end, Lawrence Bender graduated from the University of Maine in 1979. After college was when Bender started to get into the arts. It was his dream and goal to become a professional dancer. Unfortunately, an injury permanently sidelined him which ultimately lead him into the film industry.
My favorite movie produced by Bender would have to go to Good Will Hunting. Growing up, Will Hunting is an orphan that is abused regularly. He has had cigarettes put out on him along with being verbally abused. Despite all of this, Hunting has a hidden strength: his intelligence. Hunting is a math wizard. While working at the University as a janitor one night, Bender was able to solve a very difficult problem in the hallway that not even professors could solve. After that, the professor who wrote the problem tracks Hunting down. After getting to know each other, the professor becomes his mentor. In fact, he becomes the father figure that Hunting never had. Will also faces challenges with his girlfriend, Skylar. He is very reluctant on opening up about his past, something Skylar needs to know to get to know Will. Ultimately, the challenges that Will faces in this movie and how he overcomes them is why I like this movie the best.

Ideamensch recently interviewed Anthony Toma, the CEO and founder of the company. The first question was how he arrived to the idea of starting Nine9. Toma replied saying that it has been a long journey. Although he established Nine9, as a company, in the year 2013, it goes back longer. He started as a franchise and even managed to open 26 branches. But, there was a problem and investors were exiting. He decided to go solo and that was when Nine9 was born and what Nine9 knows.
